Christopher Peter Meloni (born Christopher Peter Meloni) is an American actor who is best known as a character on the well-known television series Law and Order Special Victims Unit. Since his college days, Meloni was interested in acting. He then studied at his home institution, the University of Colorado at Boulder. While he has appeared in movies and in television shows, it is the character actors on smaller screens that have given him popularity. This is not surprising since the actor has managed to grab audiences' attention by playing characters who are on either side of the law. His first television project, he played a serial murderer. Later he portrayed the role of an NYPD investigator. He's been nominated numerous times for the prestigious Emmy Awards and the PRISM Awards for his tiny screen performance. Eyes that are piercing blue on his face have been deemed to be his most attractive characteristic. These have been used to depict rough characters and give them charisma. People's magazine's 2006 list of Sexiest Men Alive included him.
