Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is a Brit-American sitarist as well as a music producer. She was among the youngest and first woman to receive a British House of Commons Shield she's received 9 Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to perform live in concert and act as a host at the award ceremony. Anoushka Shankar is a rising star on the Indian sitar. She is the child of Ravi Shankar and a former student. She was born in London in 1982. She began her life by hopping from London in London and New Delhi. The first time she performed was in New Delhi when she was only 13 years old. Then she moved to Encinitas CA she attended high school, graduating with distinction in the year 1999. Anouskha still has a promising music and acting career, despite being young. She performs regularly together with her dad, and has performed with him for quite a number of years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. She released the album Live At Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year later. The stage is a very large part of her career. She has performed in a variety of major venues all over the globe. Anoushka Shankar's work isn't limited to the music industry. In 2002 she published an autobiography titled Bapi The Love of My Live this is a pictorial biography which pays special tribute to her father Ravi Shankar. In 2003, she starred in Dance Like a Man as an actress and Bharat Natyam artist. Anoushka is still progressing in her career and we can expect many more things to come from this talented woman. Anoushka Shakar, who was born in England lived the majority of her adult life in London Delhi. When she moved to California she graduated from the high school. She began learning music when she was nine years old and was a sitar player for the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi just four years after. Anoushka was able to gain many valuable experiences by accompanying her dad during his worldwide tour. It included performances at Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals and making recordings alongside George Harrison. She was the youngest and sole female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by British Parliament for her artistry and musicianship as a preeminent musician of the Asian Arts.
